VANISHING ISLAND

Crimea – the old Turkic name “Kirim” is translated like ditch or wall. From the ancient times Crimea was in the epicenter of decisive historical moments. This land is well known for its beauty and strategic place. That is why it moved from one hand to another. Military objects, bases and enterprises cover the whole territory of Crimea.

After a self-proclaimed referendum in March 2014 during the Crimean crisis in Ukraine the territory of the Crimean peninsula was joined by force to the Russian Federation. The Ukrainian population moved out from the peninsula not willing to be a part of Russian society. But most people were happy to reunite with “big brother”. In their mind they came back to their happy past and became a part of ex-USSR.
